Senior Software Developer in Test
Remotefull-time
About the Role
Axveer is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Test to own test engineering across complex, large-scale software systems. This engineering-focused position emphasizes designing test architecture, building CI/CD test infrastructure, and driving automated quality across the full testing pyramid.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated test suites across the full testing pyramid — unit, integration, API contract, and end-to-end
- Build and maintain CI/CD test infrastructure, including parallelization, flake detection, and test reporting
- Manage test environments using Kubernetes and Azure or cloud-native tooling
- Read and analyze large, complex codebases to identify coverage gaps and extract business-critical logic for testing
- Define and enforce testing standards, patterns, and quality gates across engineering teams
- Improve reliability, speed, and observability of test suites in production CI pipelines
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to align on quality expectations
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test coverage and codebase analysis
Required Skills
- BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in software development in test, SDET, or test automation engineering roles
- Strong coding skills in C# or TypeScript, with working proficiency across both
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Azure or cloud-native test environment management
- Strong SQL proficiency — comfortable designing and querying against large relational schemas in PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server
- Deep experience with modern test automation across the pyramid — unit and integration testing (xUnit/NUnit, Jest, pytest), API-level contract and integration testing, and end-to-end browser automation with Playwright
- Proven ownership of CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure at scale — environment management, parallelization, flake control, and reporting
- Ability to independently read, analyze, and extract business logic from large, complex codebases with or without AI-assisted tools
- Demonstrated fluency with AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code) and agentic coding workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record software or regulated healthcare environments (PIPEDA/HIPAA-adjacent)
Working Model
- Remote-first role
- Collaboration with distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones
- Async-first communication with structured overlap for team ceremonies and reviews
Communication Expectations
This position requires strong communication and analytical skills to collaborate effectively within distributed engineering teams and influence quality practices across the organization:
- Articulating test strategy, coverage decisions, and quality trade-offs to engineering and product stakeholders
- Collaborating with developers to establish shared quality standards and coding practices
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills applied to complex, ambiguous technical challenges
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication in cross-functional environments
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver consistently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
